Another wonderful monograph on a single building from Triangle! This is the beautiful ‘Catalan Palace of Music’ designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner for the City of Barcelona, opened in 1908. Much of the building is covered, inside and out, with glorious, glowing mosaics, sometimes combined with ceramics, tiles, terracotta and stone. There is beautiful stained glass and sculpture too, all brought to life in superb colour and with a bonus virtual tour on CD ROM as well.

Some look more like instruments of torture whilst others are delicately decorated, belying their functionality. Why not hang a copy in your loo to while away the time!

One of the earliest forms of artificial stone, Coade Stone was manufactured into a remarkable range of designs and items, some of which were enormous, especially considering the firing techniques available in the late 18th/early 19th century. We still have copies of Alison Kelly’s “Mrs Coades’ Stone” at £48.00.

This one doesn’t have so many tile and mosaic sights as volume 2, but is filled with fascinating photos of details such as handles, shop displays, grilles, signs etc. Wonderful images of a fast-changing world.
